RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances)
The EU has introduced regulations under a directive called RoHS, the European Restriction of Hazardous Substances, which severely restricts the use of lead and some other materials in the Electronics Industry. The reference of this document is Directive 2002/95/EC dated 27th January 2003, although this may be updated in due course.
This legislation, unless amended, will take effect from 1st July 2006, after which date, electronic equipment containing these substances, cannot be put on the market i.e. offered for sale. There are a significant number of exemptions to this directive, further details can be found on the link below.
For up to date information on this directive and the WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) directive please see the relevant DTI website pages.
Our Policy
Easby Electronics will convert the majority of our stock to RoHS compliant product well before the 1st July 2006. However we will continue to supply non compliant parts if available and specified by our customers to support exempted applications.
All product shipped will be identified on the delivery note as compliant, non compliant, or not within scope of the RoHS directive. Search results on this website will display the following symbols which indicate the RoHS status of our current or most recent stock of a part:
